TruckersMP VTC Rules: Official Guidelines

Learn the official TruckersMP VTC rules, tag guidelines, and convoy etiquette to keep your drivers safe and avoid bans on the road.

TruckersMP VTC rules define how Virtual Trucking Companies must operate within the platform, manage their members, and conduct group convoys on public servers. Following these regulations protects your drivers from game bans and ensures your VTC profile remains compliant with community standards.

Running a VTC requires more than custom paint jobs and fleet logs. Every company operates under standard TruckersMP road rules alongside specialized policies for team identification, recruitment, and event coordination.

Official TruckersMP VTC System Rules

The official TruckersMP VTC directory allows teams to create company pages, list members, and organize public events. To maintain an active listing, your company page must follow clear moderation rules.

  • Content Standards: Company names, logos, descriptions, and news posts must remain safe for work. Offensive language, political agitation, hate speech, and explicit media result in page deletion.
  • Copyright and Intellectual Property: Logos and branding must not infringe on real-world trademarks without explicit permission. Using real logistics company assets can lead to page suspension if challenged.
  • Impersonation: Creating a VTC that mimics official TruckersMP staff, moderation teams, or established VTCs is strictly forbidden.
  • Validation and Verification: To achieve verified or validated status, your VTC must meet member thresholds, maintain an active roster, and host regular compliant events.

Player Tag Rules and In-Game Identification

VTC members often show their affiliation using the in-game tag feature located in the multiplayer settings tab. This feature comes with strict restrictions.

Never use prefixes or tags that imply authority. Words like Staff, Police, Admin, Moderator, Pilot, or Event Convoy are reserved for staff or approved event personnel. Even if your VTC role is fleet manager or event dispatcher, using words like "Dispatcher" or "TMP Staff" in your colored tag will result in a tag ban or temporary account suspension.

Tag colors should remain readable. Avoid using black or extremely dark colors against dark UI backgrounds. Your tag must never contain insults, slurs, or recruitment spam.

In-Game Traffic Rules During VTC Convoys

Operating in a group does not grant immunity from standard server traffic rules. A convoy line must obey the same restrictions as solo drivers.

Reckless Driving and Following Distance

Group driving requires extra focus on safe stopping distances. TruckersMP physics introduce latency and desync between clients. If the lead truck brakes, lag compensation can cause rear-end collisions down the line. Keep at least 70 to 100 meters between trucks at highway speeds. Tailgating inside a convoy is treated as reckless driving by game moderators.

Overtaking and Lane Discipline

Convoy lanes must stick to the right lane (or left lane in the UK). Never occupy multiple lanes on two-lane highways to force other traffic off the road. Faster solo players or other convoys have the right to pass. If an outside player overtakes your group, leave space between your trucks so they can merge safely if oncoming traffic appears.

Junctions and Right of Way

Convoys do not own junctions. If a traffic light turns red, the remaining trucks must stop. Proceeding through red lights simply to stay together is considered running red lights and will be penalized if other players are around.

Pilot Cars and Road Blocking Restrictions

One of the most misunderstood aspects of TruckersMP VTC rules relates to pilot cars and convoy escort.

Escort vehicles painted with Scout car liveries cannot block roads, junctions, roundabouts, or highway entrances. Only official TruckersMP Event Team members or Game Moderators possess the authority to hold traffic. VTC pilot drivers who park across lanes or block intersections to let their fleet pass are guilty of blocking, which carries an immediate ban risk.

Pilot cars may travel in front of or behind the convoy to warn other players using amber beacons. Beacons must be used sparingly; running excessive beacons in high-density areas causes client lag for surrounding players and violates server accessories rules.

Chat and CB Radio Recruitment Rules

Rebuilding a roster takes effort, but public recruitment must follow platform rules:

  • Text Chat Spam: Do not paste recruitment macros or Discord links into the global in-game chat. This clutters the feed and violates chat spam rules.
  • CB Radio Spam: Do not broadcast recruitment spiels on channel 19 or regional channels. CB channels are intended for driver communication.
  • Direct Harassment: Avoid sending unsolicited private messages to random drivers in your area demanding they apply to your VTC.

Official recruitment should occur through the TruckersMP forums, the official Discord recruitment channels, and your registered VTC profile page.

Best Practices for Organized VTC Drives

To keep your company driving clean and respected across servers, apply these internal operational habits:

  1. Pre-Trip Briefing: Define the route, fuel stops, and target channel on Discord or CB radio before departing the depot.
  2. Staggered Departures: Leave cities in small groups of three to four trucks instead of thirty trucks moving out simultaneously to prevent local gridlock.
  3. Assigned Rear Guard: Place an experienced driver at the tail of the convoy to call out incoming traffic and coordinate merges.
  4. Ghost Mode Awareness: Understand non-collision zones inside company yards and use them to regroup rather than stopping on narrow public streets outside company gates.
